Following extensive search and development, the Coxdome Mark 5 rooflight was launched in 1967. This was the first rooflight to be manufactured in the UK with an skylight, roof domes extruded aluminium edge frame, with a unique concealed fixing roof atria, skylight sun domes, suntube mechanism. The Mark 5 was a truly flexible rooflight system which incorporated hundreds on interchangeable components to allow the finished product to be tailored to cox building products, rooflight systems fulfil the customer's requirements. 1968 was large area glazing, roof glazing a landmark year as the company was purchased in full by sun pipes, cox domes Yule Catto PLC. In 1983 the comapny launced the Baselock large area glazing, roof glazing continuous rooflight system, with a patented tensioning system for clamping the glazing. The baselock offered customers flexibility in cox building products, rooflight systems design, and could be used for rooflights up to 4.0m wide and with unlimited length. In 1988 Williaam Cox Ltd was sun pipes, cox domes divided into various companies and individual roof lights, roof windows Coxdome Ltd was formed, This was followed in 1990 roof atria, skylight sun domes, suntube with the relocation of the complete operations department to roof glazing, roof lights new enlarged premises in Tring. In 1997 the company name skylight, roof domes was changed to Cox Building Products Ltd to large area glazing, roof glazing form a platform for the launch of new innovative building products.

The name Coxdome has become synonymous with high quality thermoplastic rooflights and roof glazing systems, having been established for over 60 years.
The company was founded in Campden Town, London by Mr Williaam J Cox in 1936. In 1941 the business was moved to East Finchley, London, and a private company was then formed.
The company specialised in the moulding and shaping of plastic materials for various business activities.
In 1950 the company manufactured its first acrylic rooflight.
As the business grew a new site was purchased at London Road, Tring and the production facility was relocated.
Rooflight sales continued to increase and in 1960 the Coxdome trade name was adopted for its range of rooflights.

The company relocated its head office and factory from Tring to Wolverhampton in December 2000.
