At Sony’s latest PlayStation Showcase event, the long-rumored Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater remake finally joined Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 1 set. These Metal Gear Solid games were leaked a long time ago, but now fans finally have official confirmation.
Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater is the earliest game in the Metal Gear Solid series timeline. So while this is the third numbered entry in the series, it does make sense to start there if Konami is looking to remake Kojima’s game rather than trying to make a whole new Metal Gear experience. How different the Metal Gear Solid 3 remake will be remains to be seen, as the announcement trailer didn’t go into detail.
The CG trailer for the Metal Gear Solid 3 remake shows Naked Snake sneaking around in the jungle, but doesn’t reveal much other than that it’s in development for the PS5. Perhaps even more exciting for fans than the Metal Gear Solid 3 remake confirmation is the release of Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 1. 1, which will give fans of the franchise the chance to relive classic Metal Gear games on modern platforms.
While there is no release date for the Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake, the Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 1 set has been confirmed for Fall 2023. The collection will include the original Metal Gear game, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, and the original Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. Since the announcement came during the PlayStation Showcase, all fans know for sure that the series will be coming to PS5, but insiders say it’s coming to other platforms like PC and Xbox as well.
Metal Gear Solid fans are still waiting to find out about Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 1 is coming to non-PlayStation platforms, but in the meantime, it has been confirmed that Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater Remastered is indeed multi-platform. It was also clarified that the game’s official title is Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater and that it will see the return of the original cast, meaning David Hayter will likely reprise his role as Snake.
